Financial Planning in Pensacola, Florida

Planning and investment management for young families who are trying to build something on purpose.

No account minimums · No investment commissions · No sales quotas

Motion Is Not the Same as Progress

  • You do not know your 401(k) allocations, or why they are what they are — only what you put in and what the balance says.
  • You throw extra money at debts at random, usually at whichever balance makes you the most uncomfortable that month.
  • You want the house, the truck, the thing — but with nothing saved for a down payment, that want is a wish and not a plan.
  • Your retirement plan is one round number you arrived at in your head and have never actually tested.

You are not looking for someone to take over. You are looking for someone to tell you the truth about where you stand and what to do next.

Most advisors wait at the finish line for you to arrive. We are useful at the starting line — the part of life where the decisions matter most and the account balance is smallest.

What working together looks like

Eight things. All of them concrete.

A living financial plan

It adjusts when life does. A raise, a baby, a layoff, a move — the plan changes with you instead of sitting in a drawer quietly becoming wrong.

Your greatest risks → triaged and defined

We find what would break the plan first, put a real number on it, and handle that before anybody talks about returns.

A debt payoff plan,
not a debt-free daydream

Every balance, every rate, one order of attack, and a payoff date you can circle on a calendar.

A budget that creates your offense

Cash flow is not a diet. We create the excess every month, because that surplus is what funds everything else on this list.

The market is not your benchmark.
Your goals are.

Your portfolio gets built backward from what you need and when you need it by — not from what the market did last year. Held at Altruist Financial LLC. Nothing gets traded without you knowing why it is being traded.

The Paraclete Studio, and nobody else has it

Software I built myself — not the licensed template every other advisor in town is running. Budgeting, debt elimination, retirement modeling, net worth tracking. Built on the same engine I run client files on, and open to you between meetings at no additional cost.

Meetings with a reason to exist

No quarterly ritual where I read your own statement back to you. We meet when there is a decision on the table, and we stay in regular contact in between.

The IRS is your silent partner.
Let’s shrink their share.

It is not what you make, it is what you keep. Which account, in what order, and what it costs you at tax time. Most people are guessing at this, and the guess compounds for thirty years.

The Paraclete Triage Approach

The order is the strategy. Skipping ahead is how plans fall apart.

1

Define the risks

Death and disability are bottomless money pits until somebody puts a number on them. We size them — an actual dollar figure, not a feeling — and we plan for the expenses that keep running after a paycheck stops.

Some of that protection is insurance. I am licensed to sell it and I earn a commission when I do, and you will hear that from me the moment it comes up rather than in fine print at the bottom of a page. What I care about is that the policy is a quality contract from a quality carrier and that it does the job the plan needs it to do. I will review coverage you already own at no charge.

2

Attack the consumer debt

High-interest debt eats every dollar behind it, so it does not get managed — it gets attacked. We compare the payoff methods to the dollar, pick the one that retires the debt most efficiently, and set a date you can hold me to.

3

Build the budget that funds the offense

This is the hinge, and it is the step everyone wants to skip.

A budget is not restriction.
It is self-respect.

It exists to create your excess cash flow every month, because that surplus is the ammunition for everything that comes after it. No surplus, no offense.

4

Build the portfolio

It begins with how much you need and when you need it by. Then we determine whether those needs align with your tolerance for risk. The market is not the benchmark. Being on track to reach your goals is.

What it costs

Two ways in. Pick the one that matches what you need.

Full planning engagement

$70

per month — or 0.50% of assets under management, whichever is greater. Never both.

One-time plan fee
$2,000*
Ongoing retainer
$70 / mo

* The plan fee does not have to be paid all at once. It can be broken into installments across 15 months, whatever works better for your cash flow.

Hourly advice

$120

per hour, billed in 10-minute increments

For people who do not need a full plan — they need one question answered well. A rollover decision, an offer letter, a refinance, a benefits election.

You pay for the time you use. Ten minutes is ten minutes.

No engagement required. No ongoing commitment. You pay for the time you use and nothing else.

No account minimums. Start with $0. No product pays us. No commissions on investments, no 12b-1s, no revenue sharing.

Not ready for a full plan?

Then start building anyway. Today. For free.

The Paraclete Studio is the software I built for my own clients — and you can be running it in the next ten minutes.

Budgeting Debt elimination Retirement modeling Net worth tracking

This is not a lead magnet PDF and it is not a spreadsheet with your name typed at the top. It is built on the same engine I run client files on. Build the foundation yourself — the budget, the debt attack, the emergency reserve — and when you are ready for a plan built around it, you graduate into planning.

How I am paid, and why it matters

The part most advisors bury. I would rather you read it before you decide anything.

Meetings happen wherever they work for you. Nothing about the plan changes based on which one you pick. We take on a limited number of planning clients, because the work is not something you can do at volume and do well.

Questions people ask

The ones that come up on almost every first call.

Do I need a certain amount of money to work with you?

No. People assume financial advisors are for the wealthy — but nobody gets rich by accident. Some advisors manage the money once you already have it. We help you get there. There is no account minimum here. If you have $0 invested and a paycheck you are trying to organize, that is a completely normal place to start.

Honestly, is this expensive?

Compared to what? Advisors charging a flat retainer ran a median of $4,500 a year in 2024. Ours starts at $840 — and starts is the honest word, because the ongoing fee is $70 a month or 0.50% of what we manage, whichever is greater. Past roughly $168,000 in managed assets the percentage takes over. The plan fee is one time and can be spread across 15 months. But here is the better question. Can you put a price tag on the opportunities that have already passed you by while you did NOT have a plan? Which one has cost you more?

What if I want to cancel?

You can end the engagement whenever you decide it is not working. No lock-in and no cancellation penalty. A 30-day notice is required to end the relationship, and that requirement is binding on both of us — if I am the one ending it, you get the same 30 days. One exception, and I want you to hear it now rather than later: if the financial plan has already been built and delivered to you, the plan fee is still owed. That work is done and it does not un-happen. You will hear this from me more than once before you commit to anything, because nobody should ever be surprised by a bill from me.

What happens on the first call?

It is 30 minutes and it is free. We talk about where you are and where you are trying to get. Nothing specific — we are only figuring out whether we can help you get there. If we cannot, I will tell you.

Do you only work with people in Pensacola?

No. Most clients are local, but the work is not limited by geography — we meet by video with families across the Gulf Coast.

How do I check that you are who you say you are?
